Model Substance Use Policy
The Center for School Behavioral Health, with guidance from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, has developed a Model School Substance Use Policy, with non-punitive graduated responses to address youth substance use in school-based settings.
NOTE:
The Center for School Behavioral Health is conducting a working group to address the intricacies of 3rd and subsequent responses to youth substance use, considering the realities of recovery high schools, therapeutic settings, and in-patient/residential care.
This policy is meant to be adapted and developed further to fit the needs of your community.
This policy was designed for Massachusetts communities and may require additional work to adapt it to reflect other state policies and laws.
