  • A full-time Training Lead position is available in the MGH Center for School Behavioral Health (CSBH) located within the MGH Psychiatry Department. Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the Training Lead will be responsible for management and oversight for all training and technical assistance projects and activity being conducted by Randi Schuster, PhD, Founding Director of the Center for School Behavioral Health, focused on community-based approaches to address adolescent substance use and its relationship with psychosocial, cognitive, and academic functioning. The Training Lead will be principally in charge of managing the training and technical assistance of a drug education curriculum developed under the direction of Dr. Schuster in collaboration with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, as well as potentially other programs as they arise. They will be responsible for coordination and training of school-based intervention facilitators; arrangement of logistics for training days and events; innovation related to training activities; communication and coordination with project and program team members; creation, management and QA of databases and reports for all training related activities. They will report directly to the Project Manager.

  • Center for School Behavioral Health – Department of Psychiatry, Massachusetts General Hospital / Harvard Medical School

    The Center for School Behavioral Health (CSBH) at Massachusetts General Hospital invites applications for a full-time postdoctoral fellowship focused on implementation science in school-based behavioral health. CSBH’s mission is to transform youth behavioral health by advancing scalable, sustainable, and equitable prevention and early intervention strategies integrated into K-12 educational settings. Our work spans rigorous research, real-world practice partnerships with hundreds of schools, workforce development, mental health and substance use training, and policy engagement to improve student outcomes.

    Fellowship Focus & Opportunities

    This fellowship will immerse the postdoctoral scholar in high-impact research at the intersection of implementation science, school behavioral health systems, and prevention/intervention strategies.

    The fellowship has a strong emphasis on translational research, and ideal candidates are individuals interested in pursuing an academic career. Fellows are expected to make significant contributions to the research productivity of the lab, including preparation of manuscripts as well as submitting for extramural funding (for their own research and for the lab), and will have opportunities to pursue independent research and interdisciplinary collaborations across Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. The fellow will be considered for a joint Harvard Medical School appointment (appointment is not guaranteed).

    Fellows will have the opportunity to:

    • Lead and contribute to multidisciplinary projects evaluating the implementation and effectiveness of evidence-based behavioral health supports (e.g., universal and Tier 2 strategies, measurement-based care, implementation strategies tailored to school contexts).

    • Collaborate with school partners, community stakeholders, policymakers, and research teams to advance scalable, equitable practice and policy solutions that support student mental health.

    • Engage in mixed-methods research, including qualitative and quantitative data collection, analysis, and interpretation.

    • Drive dissemination, including preparation of manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals, presentations at national conferences, and contributions to grant proposals.

    • Receive mentorship and professional development tailored to independent research career trajectories, including grant writing and academic leadership.

    Qualifications:

    • A recently completed Ph.D. or equivalent in psychology, public health, education, health services, implementation science, or a related discipline (degree conferred by fellowship start).

    • A strong background in qualitative and quantitative analytical methods.

    • A strong grounding in implementation science theory, methods, or frameworks (e.g., CFIR, Proctor’s outcomes, hybrid trial designs).

    • Commitment to rigorous research and translating evidence into real-world practice and policy.

    • Experience with mixed-methods research, community-engaged partnerships, or translational science is highly desirable.

    • Excellent communication skills and a record (or strong potential) of scientific productivity.

  • Description  

    The Center for School Behavioral Health at the Massachusetts General Hospital is seeking highly qualified and motivated undergraduate students for a research internship for the 2026-2027 school year to gain in-depth exposure to the daily operations of clinical psychological research. This internship is an opportunity to gain exposure to many aspects of the experimental process, including recruitment, retention, and dissemination of findings. Additionally, interns will get experience working with adolescent clinical mental health populations. This is an unpaid internship that requires at least 12 hours a week in-person and goes across both the Fall and Spring semesters.  

    This internship is on-site at our Boston, MA office. We are located walking distance from North Station and the Charles/MGH stop.

    Responsibilities  

    Interns may work on different aspects of several clinical trials being conducted at the Center focused on substance use and mental health in adolescents. New studies may have started or ended by the time interns begin.  

    Responsibilities may include running parts of subject visits, data entry and checking, subject recruitment, phone screening, administrative work, social media updates, administration of study procedures, and other responsibilities. It is a flexible position, and interns will be able to provide input on some of their duties based on their personal interests and study needs.  

    Qualifications  

    • Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in a related field (e.g., Psychology, Neuroscience, Public Health, Community Health, Pre-med, Sociology/Social Sciences, Social Work, Data Science, etc.)  

    • Interested in adolescent substance use, mental health, and school-based research  

    • Prior research experience (preferred)  

    • Strong interpersonal skills  

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills  

    • A desire to learn in a fast-paced environment  

    • Strong/creative problem-solving skills  

    • Extremely detail-oriented, self-motivated, and flexible  

    • Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities

    Requirements  

    • Weekday availability of at least 12 hours a week, in blocks of no less than 4 hours in-person in Boston - more availability is welcomed.  

    Goals   

    After the internship, interns will be able to:  

    • Conduct study procedures according to protocol and interact with study subjects in a professional manner.  

    • Work closely with clinical research coordinators conducting study methods overseen by primary investigators: Dr. Randi Schuster and Dr. Nicole DeTore 

    • Prepare a short oral presentation of their work or assigned topic at the completion of the internship.  

    • For highly qualified, motivated candidates, it may be possible to apply this internship toward the completion of an academic requirement (e.g., thesis, capstone, etc.).

This internship is an opportunity to gain exposure to all aspects of the program development, implementation, and evaluation. Beyond iDECIDE, our team works on a variety of other program development/policy initiatives, which the intern could assist with, depending on interest and availability. This is an unpaid internship that requires at least 12 hours a week in-person and spans both academic semesters.
